A manufacturing company (Maruti Industry,MI) intent to implement Oracle Apps supply chain modules. Part of requirements is how to setup planning and replenishment for their RM (raw materials) and PM (Packaging materials).
- Maruti Industry (MI) follow lean inventory principle as far as Raw material sourcing is concern. They have credible few supplier to cover their sourcing need. However when it comes to packaging material, typically MI follow stocking it in their large warehouse and issue PM as there is internal demand/consumption.
- MI has two plants and both require RM/PM planning. It has been a common practice to supply specific raw materials and few specific packaging material from plant A to plant B or vice-a-versa. But for the most part of sourcing is directly from supplier to individual plants.
- Each plant A and plant B also has their separate stocking areas to keep their excess inventories.
- Store personnel receives demand of RM/PM from planning department and in frequent ad hoc requests for replenishment/transfer.
