An IT service and product company, Delta system is looking for finalizing the types of sales order for Oracle Order Management. implementation project. Followings are the information collected from various meeting with IT manager, Sales Manager and SME from customer side.
Delta system has two major line of business. Product and Services.
Following are the four type of services
* Application Development–AD
* Application service Management -ASM
* Packaged Implementation-PI
Delta system is also involved in providing servers and other infrastructure products such as data base server and networking product. Some time these products are not acceptable by the customer because of defect and in that case Delta system has to take those product back and do a quality check and perform root cause analysis. Sales manager wanted to track the customer return separately.
Sales department wanted an efficient system so that order can be booked with minimal data entry because 40% of total orders are coming from telesales where tele-caller needs to enter the order details in Oracle screen.
In order to better communicate with logistic department, they currently follow different sales order numbering. e.g. Product sales carry one number and Service sales carry another sales order number format.
Each of these line of business is treated as vertical business unit and accounted separately in terms of sales and cost. etc. IT manager want separate reporting for each line of business.
As a OM consultant you need to design how many types of sales order is required and what is the design principle or basis against which you finalize order types.
